Garage 59 took second place overall and a Bronze Cup podium at the three-hour GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup race at Monza in Italy today.

Joseph Loake brought the #59 McLaren across the line in second place overall, just a few seconds shy of the win, demonstrating the strong pace of the Garage 59 McLarens at Monza, nicknamed the “Temple of Speed”. Benji Goethe started the race in the #59 from fifth position, slipping back briefly in a chaotic start but hauling himself back up the order before he pitted to hand over to Marvin Kirchhöfer. A typically rapid run from Marvin, including a lovely pass on an Aston Martin, moved the car up to third before he pitted to hand it over to Loake for the run to the flag. A slick stop saw Loake join the race in second place and set off after the leader, taking second place when the chequered flag fell.

In the Bronze Cup class, the #188 McLaren of Miguel Ramos, Guilherme Oliveira and Tom Fleming took a hard earned P3 podium.

The Gold Cup-entered #58 McLaren had an incredible start in the hands of Dean Macdonald, quickly moving up to fourth, and then into an overall podium position by the end of the first hour. Their luck unravelled at the first pit stop when an unfortunately timed full course yellow dropped them down the order. Prette pushed hard but was caught out by cars suddenly slowing with an hour of the race remaining. This forced him into the pits and ultimate retirement for the #58.
