24 Hours of Spa

Spa didn't choose us this year.
We started the race from pole with the #59 McLaren, and for a while, everything was going to plan. But just one puncture in the night was all it took to derail our bid for the outright win. From there, it was a relentless fight to the flag — ten hours of pushing to the limit — and we crossed the line in P6.

Heartbreak came late for the #58 McLaren. After a phenomenal comeback from being spun out and sent to the back of the field on Lap 1, the drivers fought all the way through to take the lead in Gold Cup. But with just seven minutes to go, a puncture forced a final unscheduled stop. We had to settle for P2 in class — a tough pill to swallow after 24 hours of grit and determination.
The #188 McLaren started P10 in the Bronze Cup and showed solid pace and consistency throughout, taking the lead in the night before being rudely rear-ended! The car couldn’t be fully repaired until the technical stop on Sunday morning (it was a long wait for that yellow!). The drivers did an incredible job to fight their way up to finish P5 in class.
Every member of this team gave everything. Every pit stop — flawless. All three technical stops — perfect. The drivers? Not a single penalty across 24 hours.
To have our race undone by punctures is a tough one to take.
But that’s racing. And we’ll be back.
Because this is what we do.

Thank you so much for an entertaining weekend! I look forward to a successful rest of the season for Garage 59. Well done men!
