Texas Time!

Garage 59 heads stateside for the next round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, as the Lone Star Le Mans brings the series to the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas.

COTA presents another very different challenge for the team. Fast and technical, with its dramatic elevation changes, sweeping high-speed sections and a tight, twisting final sector, the 5.5-kilometre circuit demands a well-balanced car and rewards precision.

With valuable experience gathered during the opening rounds of its first WEC campaign, Garage 59 arrives in Austin determined to keep pushing forward with the McLaren GT3 EVO and turn that growing understanding into results as the championship enters its second half.

“I love racing in the US so I’m excited to be going to Austin. I think the McLaren will be well suited to COTA, especially in the first sector, which is very fast and flowing. I have a positive feeling that we will be more competitive than at Le Mans and Sao Paulo. Austin is one of my favourite cities in the US; I always enjoy the vibe there. I would be happy if we can have a clean race, maximise our package and get back on the podium.

“I’m super excited to be going to Austin. This will be my first time driving at the Circuit of the Americas and actually my first time racing in the States. I think COTA will suit the McLaren well and, especially as the last couple of rounds haven’t gone our way in terms of pace and results, I’m hoping we can turn it around this weekend. I’ve heard a lot of good things about racing in America so I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s all about.”
