The #59 Garage 59 McLaren of Marvin Kirchhöfer and Benji Goethe took a dominant outright victory in the second of the two Sprint Cup rounds of GT World Challenge Europe at Misano in Italy.

Marvin started the race from pole position, after an impressive display in Qualifying. With Raffaele Marciello hard on his tail, he led the field for 15 minutes before the race was red flagged.

In the #58 McLaren, Louis Prette had slipped to P20 but crucially held onto P3 in Gold Cup.
Â
It was a long stoppage as barrier repair was required but once the race got going again Marvin shot off in the lead and started to pull away from Marciello’s BMW.

Both the leading McLaren and the BMW dived into the pits at the same and it was the Garage 59 crew who won the battle of the pitstops. Benji exited the pits, still leading, with Valentino Rossi now behind the wheel of the BMW. What followed was an incredible display from Benji, who faced intense pressure from Lucas Auer’s Mercedes in the closing laps before crossing the line as the winner!

To top off a great day, Tom Fleming came home in third place in Gold Cup, taking the second trophy of the weekend for the #58 McLaren.
