Ready for an action-packed double helping of UK racing

Garage 59 is heading into a double-header of UK racing, starting with the first Sprint Cup round for GT World Challenge Europe, which takes place at Brands Hatch on Sunday.

The two, one-hour races held at the iconic Kent circuit will see Manuel Maldonado and Ethan Simioni compete for Silver Cup honours in the #159 McLaren 720S GT3. In the #188 McLaren, Miguel Ramos will be joined by Dean Macdonald who makes his debut for the team this weekend, competing for Pro-Am glory.

With the British GT Championship’s three-hour “Silverstone 500” being held just up the road from the team’s Brackley headquarters the following weekend it made perfect sense to put in a one-off entry for that race.

Alexander West will race the #88 McLaren and will be joined by someone very familiar to the team, and now McLaren works driver, Marvin Kirchhöfer.

“I’m excited to join my friends at Garage 59 for this one-off race,” said Kirchhöfer. “We have no championship to worry about so we can just go for it and give it our best shot. I know Alex has been doing well in the McLaren 720S so I think we have every chance of a good result at Silverstone.”

The team may also enter a second McLaren into the Silverstone 500. This will be confirmed next week.

This weekend’s track action at Brands Hatch gets underway at 09:00 on Saturday with a free practice session. Qualifying takes place from 15:50 on Saturday with the two sprint races starting at 11:25 and 16:45 on Sunday.
