Hoping for a strong home run at Silverstone

After a thrilling season-opener at Monza in Italy, attention turns to Silverstone this weekend for the British round of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup. The UK-based Garage 59 team knows the strength of the competition now and the battle is on!

The Monza race demonstrated that the results will come to those with a strong car, great drivers, clever strategy and slick work in the pit stops so the team has been working hard over the last few weeks to make sure everything is in place for the home event.

The #59 PRO Aston Martin drivers, Jonny Adam, Côme Ledogar and Andrew Watson, had a battle on their hands from the start of the Monza race. In difficult, slippery conditions they steered their Vantage GT3 to ninth place after three hours of hard racing.

“After a solid result at the opening Blancpain Endurance round we are all looking forward to the team’s and Aston Martin’s home event at Silverstone,” said Adam. “The circuit should suit the new Aston Martin Vantage GT3 well and we’ll be aiming to challenge for a great result. I’m looking forward to Maggotts and Becketts, going through there at high speed in a car that has good aero. If you’re a spectator heading to Silverstone, that’s where you want to go and watch the race from!”

The #188 Garage 59 squad will be at full strength this weekend as Chris Harris makes his return to the team. In his absence his team mates, Alexander West and Chris Goodwin, notched up a podium finish at Monza so Harris is keen to get stuck in and grab a piece of silverware for himself.

“It was great to see Alexander and Chris take that podium finish at Monza,” said Harris. “I was sad to miss it but I plan to get stuck in at Silverstone and hope that we can all win another trophy. Missing the first race is never ideal but it’s not going to put me on the back foot as we have tested the Vantage GT3 at Silverstone. This series usually attracts a good turnout of fans so I hope we can give them something to cheer about this weekend!”

Round 2 of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup gets underway this Sunday (12 May) at 15:00 BST. Qualifying will take place earlier the same day at 09:40 BST.
