The #188 McLaren duo of Louis Prette and Miguel Ramos finally had a change of fortune in the 2024 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe season, crossing the line in second place at Magny Cours to take their first podium finish of the year. Despite taking multiple pole positions throughout the season, one thing or another has kept the #188 drivers away from the podium but that all changed today!
“It’s a relief to finally finish a race with a good result as we have had far too many lows this season,” said Louis. “We have the performance and I hope we can build on this in the remaining races and leave the track smelling of Champagne every time!”
In contrast, the sister #159 McLaren, raced by Tom Gamble and Benjamin Goethe in the Pro Cup class missed out on the podium by one excruciating position. Gamble started the race from P2 after a very strong showing in Qualifying. He held that position throughout his stint but during the pit stop, the #159 had a false neutral, losing six seconds and three places! Benji fought as hard as he could and crossed the line in fifth place overall, which was fourth in the Pro Cup class.
